El Marco Productions is a film production company that has its eye set on the big screen. The main goal of their logo was to help with distribution and recognition of their films at festivals, etc.
They wanted their logo to have a fun and warm feel. This mentality is also represented by the company's name, El Marco, which is a nod to the El Nino sketch from Saturday Night Live which stars Chris Farley. Another desire that was brought to the table by owner, Marc Arnason, was that the logo incorporated the human eye.
Upon research, it was discovered that El Marco in Spanish means 'the frame' which is very applicable to the film industry in which this company is breaking into. With all of this information, the sketching and brainstorming began.
The warm friendly colors, the brushstroke in the shape of the human eye and the squares of a film strip were all incorporated into the final logo.
The final logo was animated for use in the title sequence of their films.
